The sex and relationships education programme is planned from within the school's PSHE scheme and science programme of study in the National Curriculum and is seen as a joint School/Parent responsibility, which should be dealt with sensitively. We aim to provide a moral framework, which encourages the value of stable relationships and helps pupils to gain an understanding of the importance of self-control and respect for others. This area is treated naturally from a young age and our aim is to answer questions as they arise, in a sensitive manner at a level suitable for the age of the pupils. Pupils in Year 6 follow a specific series of lessons and parents are invited to discuss the content of these with the class teacher prior to delivery. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from these lessons.
